Resources & Advice
1
Warm Up First: Always warm up with light dynamic body movements first, joint rotations, walking, light slow jog or basic martial arts movements.
2
General Stretches: Then do some light general stretches once you have a little sweat to prepare you for the main workout.
3
End of Session: Stretching at the end of a session is better for developing greater range of motion (flexibility).
4
Intense Stretching: This is when you should do harder more intense stretches holding for min 10-30 sec each time. Do not bounce, as ballistic stretches can cause injury.
Top Tip
Try stretching each morning when you wake up even if it is for only 5 minutes, as it will set your body for the day and you will feel lighter and more agile.
1
Make sure they attend a minimum of 2 sessions per week (any more than 4 is not recommended unless they are in the sport tournament fighter program).
2
Ensure they have a small snack after school and are hydrated (min 1 glass of water 20 mins before training). Bring a water bottle to all classes.
3
Bring sparring/safety gear to training at all times, and always have a mouth guard.
Consistency is Key
Regular consistent attendance means they will learn and stay motivated. Progress is certain if they attend regularly and try hard in class.

Anti-Abduction Skills

Yell! Hit! Run! If someone approaches or tries to touch you say: "Stop, I said Stop or I'll tell!"
Safety at Home: Never open the door for a stranger or give them information. Do not tell them parents are in the shower.
General Safety: A stranger is someone you don't know. They can be nice and kind, but can still be dangerous. Never go anywhere with a stranger.
